We met this group of fierce Kereyu warriors at Lake Shala in the Abiata-Shala National Park. They had walked for over 200km with their camels from the Awash region to let them drink at lake Shala. They do this trip a few times a year. Lake Shala is a very deep lake and is enclosed in a 266m deep crater. They were initially very hostile when they saw me with the camera so I left the camera in the car. one of the Kereyu boys had a mobile phone and started taking pictures of that strange white woman and they laughed about the result. After a few minutes the ice was broken and they were posing for pictures.
